Water for Injection System

Water for Injection System

Water for Injection (WFI) is a high-purity water used for injectable pharmaceutical products and equipment cleaning. WFI must comply with global pharmacopeial standards such as USP, EP, and IP, ensuring extremely low microbial, pyrogen, and endotoxin levels. The WFI system typically includes pure steam generators and WFI-grade storage and distribution infrastructure.

During the process, the feed and distilled water within the plant is in constant motion and hence there is no stagnancy. Impurities, along with the Pyrogenic load, are continuously purged from the last column. At start-up during pre-heating and self-sanitizing the residual accumulated water will also drain off before WFI is produced.

FAQ

What advantages does a WFI system offer for sterile production?

A WFI system ensures ultra-pure, sterile water for injectable drugs, minimizes contamination risks, supports regulatory compliance, and maintains consistent product quality in sterile pharmaceutical production.

Water for Injection (WFI) is commonly used in the manufacturing of injectable drugs, vaccines, IV fluids, cleaning of sterile equipment, and other critical pharmaceutical processes.

A Water for Injection (WFI) system is essential for injectables because it provides sterile, pyrogen-free water that meets strict pharmacopeial standards. This ensures the safety, purity, and effectiveness of injectable drugs by preventing contamination during formulation and manufacturing.
