 Ultrafiltration System

Ultrafiltration (UF) system is an advanced filtration step installed downstream of an Electrodeionization (EDI) unit in pharmaceutical-grade Purified Water (PW) systems. While EDI effectively removes ionic contaminants, the Post-UF system is designed to target non-ionic species such as pyrogens, endotoxins, fine colloids, and microorganisms that might not be completely retained by the upstream EDI process.

This additional layer of protection is essential to ensure bioburden and endotoxin control in high-purity water loops. The system typically uses hollow fiber membranes with pore sizes between 0.01 and 0.03 microns, and is constructed from materials that are pharmaceutical-grade, sanitizable, and compatible with CIP (Clean-in-Place) protocols.

Installation of Post-UF ensures that purified water consistently meets USP <1231>, EP, and IP standards for microbial and endotoxin levels. These systems are often integrated with ASME BPE-compliant designs and automated PLC/SCADA control systems with integrity testing and alarm functionality.

UF Generation System

UF Generation System is a membrane-based water treatment solution that removes suspended solids, bacteria, viruses, and high-molecular-weight organics from feed water. It serves as a crucial step in pretreatment for processes like Reverse Osmosis (RO), Demineralization, and Purified Water Systems.

The UF system uses semi-permeable hollow fiber or spiral-wound membranes that operate under low pressure. Water passes through the membrane, allowing only low-molecular-weight substances to go through, while contaminants are retained and flushed out.
